Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actor known for her performance as the spirited attorney Teri Joseph in the Showtime series Soul Food. The actress is known under her married name, Nikki Kodjoe. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an interest in acting from when she was a child and won an award for the best Actress award at a Maryland high-school competition. In the years following her work in theater, and 'The Washington Ballet Company she received a master's certificate in acting from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love brought her a first-class role. It was followed by other films like 'Boogie Nights Spark' and Blue Streak. Soul Food, her TV show was highly regarded for the performance she gave. Her TV appearances include Second Time Around and Empire. In the past, Parker appeared in many performances on stage. Contractor who was born and raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai when he was 7, had traveled across the globe and lived through diverse cultures when he was a kid. After boarding school, over seven years London the family moved to Toronto Canada where she spent much of her early years and early adulthood. Contractor was a brilliant student in Toronto and educated to become a classical ballet dancer. She was enrolled in the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It is a special school for arts and sciences, where she did not only take classes in theater but also performed too. At 16, after nearly 10 years of dancing, Contractor decided to take up acting as a profession. As soon as she finished high school, she received a full Scholarship to University of Toronto. At the University of Toronto she completed the Master of Arts in Theatre. She she also double-majored in sociology and psychology. After a single year at University, Contractor went to an audition on a call-to-action basis for the production Pericles in the highly regarded, world-renowned Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the role of lead. After two weeks of performances, she got positive reviews. The production was recognized as the best production in Canada by reviewers. Contractor accepted the offer to join Stratford's Conservatory. Only eight men selected and four females accepted for a 20-week intensive course of classical theater. Contractor got a place for the upcoming season of plays and landed the part of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
